Film:NewForest is aiming to be pitch perfect

Film:NewForest are turning their attention to helping budding filmmakers learn how to pitch their ideas at a brand new educational event on February 28

Cllr Harris at film event Aimed at the whole spectrum of filmmakers; be they already experienced in creating movies through to the emerging talent the area has at nearby colleges and universities, this event will teach the often forgotten part of filmmaking; pitching ideas to get funding, who to pitch to, and how to attract a team on to a film project.

Cllr Michael Harris, New Forest District Council's Portfolio Holder for Local Economic Development, Property and Innovation at New Forest District Council, said, "Pitching an idea can be daunting so being able to effectively deliver a pitch is critical to success.

"Film:NewForest receives lots of requests from student filmmakers so we know there is a large number of people starting out locally who would benefit from an event like this. Equally, we know pitching can be a stumbling block for the well-experienced filmmakers we talk to.  And anything the project can do to foster a thriving film industry in the area is part of why we started Film:NewForest."

The free session will cover skills and techniques for delivering pitches with memorable confidence by unlocking some theatre skills used by actors.

The event will also include Creative England's Crew Networking Event, giving local crew the opportunity to meet local industry contacts.

The pitching masterclass is at Careys Manor, Brockenhurst on 28 February at 4pm until 6pm, followed by networking until 9pm.  More details or to book a place: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/pitching-masterclass-networking-evening-with-filmnewforest-creative-england-tickets-55335354535
