We are committed to providing an excellent customer service to the bereaved.

The Service includes:

  • Interment bookings

  • Enquiries relating to the Cemeteries currently administered by us.

Support for Child Funeral Costs (Children's Funeral Fund for England)

The Children's Funeral Fund for England can help to pay for some of the costs of a funeral for a child under 18 or a baby stillborn after the 24th week of pregnancy.

It is not means-tested; what you earn or how much you have in savings will not affect what you get, however, the burial or cremation must take place in England. For further information with what the fund covers, please refer to Children's Funeral Fund for England or please contact us by email at

The Service of Interment

This includes the administration for the booking of the interment, the preparation and completion of the interment at the time of committal, and the maintenance of statutory registers and records post interment.

There are no restrictions on who can be interred within the Cemeteries we provide, however, those people who reside outside the district will be charged the full fee for all services. New Forest residents, who have contributed to the Service, through payment of their council tax, will be charged at a reduced rate.

Interments may take place Monday to Friday between the hours of 9.30am and 3.00pm.

Saturday interments are by arrangement only and premium fees apply.

To arrange an interment please consult our current list of Registered Funeral Directors and Stonemasons to select your preferred choice of Funeral Director.

Blackfield and Gore Road Cemetery graves  and cremated remains plots can no longer be pre-purchased  due to limited remaining space availability. Graves and cremated remains plots currently available are for immediate use only. For alternative grave pre-purchase arrangements, you may wish to select from one of our other Cemeteries.

All cemeteries are open to the public, but please respect other visitors and the grounds as these are places of peace and tranquillity.

There are currently no crematoriums in the New Forest; the nearest crematoria are in Southampton, Eastleigh and Bournemouth . Cremated remains, however, can be interred within purchased NFDC graves, woodland graves, woodland ashes graves and within cremated remains plots. Scattering of ashes is possible within selected Cemeteries only.
